Moto Guzzi announces the new 2015 Griso 8V Special Edition, a bike delivered in a nifty livery which now seems to be even more luxurious than what we’ve seen previously from Mandello Del Lario. One of the two color options Guzzi offers is Trophy Red, and it will definitely make heads turn.
It follows the same design scheme of its silver and matte black “Black Devil”sibling (apparently Euro version), but the red paint is definitely adding more styling points to the bike. That is, the Trophy Red color matches better the fiery red Moto Guzzi logo accents on the black, wire spoked rims.

The bike itself has only received minimal updates, as it looks like the recipe was as popular as it was rewarding to the riders. The riding position was tweaked a bit, Guzzi says, to provide better long-range comfort, with the seat-bars-pegs triangle now being less fatiguing over extended hours of riding. The Griso 8V Special Edition is also equipped with racing footpegs as part of the SE package.

Other aesthetic upgrades are also on the menu, such as a LED tail light with high-intensity modules, smoke tinted turn signals, a black chassis, and matching black instrument housing.

Same old 110hp engine

The 2015 Moto Guzzi Griso 8V Special Edition has not undergone engine modifications. This means that the 90-degree longitudinal crankshaft 1,151cc v-twin will deliver the same 110 hp at 7,500 revs, and 80 lb-ft (108.5 Nm) of torque at 6.400 revs. The fuel injection is supplied by Magneti Marelli, the guys who make the MotoGP ECUs.

Griso’s power unit sits in the same tubular steel frame, and sports the same 6-speed, shaft final drive transmissions, which can hurl the bike north of 143 mph (230 km/h). The asymmetric silencer retains the retro looks and is a nifty trademark of the Griso, too.

The 43mm upside-down Ohlins forks are fully-adjustable. The brake calipers come from Brembo, and they squeeze dual 320mm rotors in the front and a 282mm one in the rear. The dry weight is 222 kg (489 lb) and thins keeps the 2015 Moto Guzzi Griso 8V Special Edition on the decent side of weight in the class. The tank however, is rather skimpy, as it can carry 16.7 liters (4.4 US gal) of gas.

The European price appears to be €12,890, but this matter will be clarified shortly, as Moto Guzzi is also heading for EICMA, where we will also be present.
