Porsche’s engineers haven’t laid down their blood, sweat and tears in vain. Their work has made the 2014 Cayman a memorable car.

The Porsche Cayman is a car of many assets. You can’t help but keep its superb dynamic balance in mind. The flawless chassis flows in with the engines, which are delighting in a modern, yet old-school manner. The flexible powertrain, together with the extra stability offered by the chassis works mean that the Porsche Cayman also works for cruising.

And yet the 2014 Porsche Cayman’s best treat is its overall package. It also serves lifestyle purposes, introducing that Porsche feel-good plush attitude. This is especially reinforced by its interior.

As for the worst side of the 2014 Porsche Cayman, this comes in the form of its pricing. In the US, the Cayman starts at $52,600, while the Cayman S begins at $63,800. But let’s not fool ourselves. Via the financial black hole effect of the Porsche options list, a well-gifted Cayman S sits north of $100,000. In Europe the Cayman can be yours starting from EUR51,385, while the Cayman S begins at EUR64,118 (20 percent VAT included).

There is one observation to be made though - the Porsche Cayman’s exuberantly sporty character means that, unlike in the case of other car, you also can be truly happy with an entry version, a non-S with a manual. What's more, despite being the most expensive car in its class, the Cayman's complete nature brings it an eight in the value for money race.

Porsche has brought the Cayman closer to the 911 than ever. Nonetheless, from this point on, any comparison between the two would be amusing. That’s simply because most of the 911 clientele has multiple reasons to skip its little brother.

First of all, the Cayman can’t be a “911 killer” for the same reason why the upcoming C190 Mercedes GT or McLaren P13 can not: it doesn’t have four seats. Then there’s the category of customers that pay attention to the little optional details that are denied to the Cayman. For others, nothing but finding the engine at the back will do, so the 911 is the only way.

In spite of all this, as a dynamic proposal, the Cayman is superior and beating the 911 at this game means it’s time for some champagne.
