I rode scooters but on no occasion have they made me feel invincible. I might even say that I was kind of more comfortable when throwing a leg over a sport bike for the first time than when riding scooters.
This type of mental discomfort most likely came from the fact that I knew that some drivers treated scooters worse than they treat a motorcycle which, like it or not, is entitled to a full lane and so on.
So riding a scooter naturally came with more awareness... unlike what I keep on seeing on You Tube more often. Chaps riding scooters without helmets, speeding like idiots regardless of how busy the traffic is, crashing into ambulances and generally speaking, riding mindlessly...
I won't say that all scooter riders are a bit crazy, but some of these fellows should never be allowed on the streets, really. Is it THAT hard to keep enough distance between the bikes when on two wheels?
