Now that the tears have dried up on my face after reading a press release from Italy's financial police (Guardia di Finanza), and I caught up my breath, here's the (old) news: the 2013 EICMA was once more plagued by fake Chinese Vespa knock-offs.
Obvioulsy, it all went down just like in 2012: confiscated scooters and Piaggio's army of lawyers ready for the long court sessions to follow.
According to Guardia di Finanza, no less than 11 scooters from 7 exhibitors have been seized and an investigation in underway.
Now, how stupid can one be as to bring a shameless and easy to spot copy of a Vespa scooter to a bike show such as the EICMA, almost on Piaggio's doorstep? This question puzled me last year and seeing the same story happening again left me flubbergasted.
