This year's World Rally Championship manufacturer table was completed, following the closing of the subscription process imposed by the International Automobile Federation on March 1st. Until 3 days ago, there were several teams linked to a WRC campaign in 2009. Bottom line, however, only 5 manufacturers will make the scoreboard this year.
Four of those teams had already been confirmed for at least 8 rounds of the new season – as required by the FIA rule book in order for the outfit to be eligible for the manufacturers' race – before the opening round in Ireland. Those were the only two works' teams remained in the series – Ford and Citroen – joined by their satellite teams Citroen Junior and M-Sport Ford.
Munchi's Ford World Rally Team have also confirmed their 3rd consecutive participation in the WRC in late February, days before the FIA term expired. The team's debut in the 2009 WRC is scheduled less than two weeks from now, at Rally Cyprus. As compared to the other 4 teams committed to a WRC campaign this year, Munchi's will take on the 2009 season with a single-car effort.
Also yesterday, the FIA has announced the list of 2009 J-WRC Nominated Rallies, as well as the 2009 P-WRC Nominated Rallies.
In addition, the entry list for Rally Cyprus was confirmed. So here it is:
