Adapta Confirm Grondal for Rally Norway

Norwegian rally fans will see both Petter Solberg and Subaru on the entry list of Rally Norway, scheduled to take place on February 13-15 as the second round of this year's WRC. The organizers managed to score the popularity points as a result of Solberg's independent entry – on a Citroen Xsara WRC – and Adapta Subaru team announcing their participation in the aforementioned event.

The team will field two Subaru Impreza 2008 WRC during Rally Norway next month, each driven by a Norwegian driver. Having already secured the drive of Mads Ostberg for the event, Adapta has just announced its 2nd entry, 24-year old Anders Grondal. They will be the only drivers competing on ex-works Subaru Imprezas in Rally Norway.

“It's almost unbelievable. I'm as excited as a child. It's going to be fantastic to drive a car that is on the same performance level as the very best. Now it's up to me to grab the chance I've been offered,” said Grondal, who has now became the 4th Norwegian driver to be eligible for WRC points in his home event.

However, Adapta is yet to unveil whether they will apply for an entry in the Manufacturers standings this year or prefer to do selected events in 2009. In order to be eligible for the manufacturers' race, a team has to secure 2 drives minimum for at least 8 WRC events. While Ostberg has been confirmed for the team's entire WRC programme, Grondal is yet to find out his future role within the team. The last day of subscriptions is more than a month ahead, March 1st.

“For the time being we will enter as a private team but the situation is still open, there are still opportunities. We haven’t totally excluded the possibility of competing as a Manufacturer Team, but for now we are happy to run under the Adapta name only - to complete the rallies, just not to score points,” revealed team boss Morten Ostberg in an interview for WRC's official site.
