Verruckt - which is a German word for "insane" - the world’s officially tallest water slide has opened today. Located in Kansas City’s Schlitterbahn water park, Kansas, this baby is 168 feet (51 meters) tall and officials say any person sliding on it will reach up to 70 mph (112 km/h). Just to reach the top of the water slide customers need to walk 264 steps.
If you ever thought of yourself as a brave person that could do almost anything in the world without getting scared, then you should probably take a peak on the video below. Starting today, all those adrenaline freaks out there finally have a new toy, the world’s tallest and fastest water slide, as certified by Guinness World Records.

Even though it was supposed to open on the 23rd of May, in time for Memorial day weekend traffic, designers said the ambitious ride needed more fine-tuning before it can open to the public. However, all the preparations are now ready, and the first customers already took a “fall from the sky.”

According to Kansas, riders must be at least 54 inches (137 cm) tall and 14 years old. Riders sit in a three-person raft and are secured with straps across the waist and shoulders, like a seat belt. The chute drops 168 feet, 7 inches, a bit more than Niagara Falls, and the raft hits speeds of 60 to 70 mph.

Now, we're not quite sure if driving top speeds at the wheel of say a McLaren P1 gives you bigger thrills than sliding Verruckt, but we definitely prefer the sound of the engine and the feeling of the exhaust the moment the pedal hits the floor than anything other in this world.
