The Nissan GT-R may have a strong reputation based on its handling, but the Japanese supercar is also a perfect drag car. Today, we're here to show you the current holder of the "Fastest street-legal GT-R in a straight line" record.
Built by ShepTrans, the GT-R in the adjacent video, managed to deal with the quarter mile sprint in a mind-blowing 8.61 seconds at 170.47 mph (274.5 km/h).
The North Lawrence, Ohio-based tuner gifted the GT-R with an infinite list of modifications. Key among the update are a Titan stroker kit that pushes the displacement from 3.8 to 4.1 liters and an AMS turbocharger mod that includes intercoolers and custom piping.
As ShepTrans' name tells us, the company's pride and joy is the transmission department, with the GT-R receiving their dual-clutch 'box upgrade (Stage 4).
The company also borrowed some parts from GT-R specialist Switzer Performance, which is also based in Ohio. The list includes high-flow injectors, a custom intake, as well as a piggyback ECU supplied by Syvecs.
The ShepTrans Nissan GT-R delivers 1,300 hp and can run on E85. The vehicle has also been lightened, while its power is sent to the road via street-legal Mickey Thompson drag radials.
