Over the years, the small tuning show held in Essen has been getting more and more attention. Being scheduled somewhere between the LA Auto Show and NAIAS, the little tuning venue is getting bigger as we speak.
A true testimony in this regard is the world premiere BMW has scheduled for this year’s edition. The Munich-based company will be unveiling an expanded lineup of M Performance Parts for the BMW X3 and X4, but also for the M3 and M4 models (coupe and Convertible).

Apart from parts that improve the cars aerodynamically on the outside and design-wise on the inside, the company is also launching a couple of M Performance exhausts that will change the sound of the cars at the same time.

The M Performance Parts for the X3 and X4

For the SUV models, BMW is launching a new set of black kidney grilles as well as exterior mirror caps and a new rear spoiler in high-tech carbon. Unfortunately, the latter is available only for the X4 as on the X3 it would be impossible to mount. All the carbon parts have been hand crafted.

Of course, as you’re about to notice from the photo gallery below, there are also some M stripes included in the sets in either black or silver. Their aim is to ‘highlight the two X models’ dynamic lines to pleasing effect’.

New, lightweight forged wheels are also up for grabs, allowing you to reduce your car’s unsprung mass in the two cars, enhancing the agility and steering responses in the process.

Inside, BMW prepared a host of new parts as well. The door sill plates in brushed stainless steel now feature LEDs and illuminate the BMW M Performance lettering once the door is open. The best news about these new door sill plates is that they can be retrofitted without any apparent cables because they work on batteries.

New interior strips can deck the cabin and they can be had in carbon or Alcantara/carbon combination with M Performance lettering that is replacing the old design which featured only the M letter. We’re guessing BMW went this way to stop the M brand’s dilution.

Even the gearshift lever can be decked in carbon as well as the new steering wheel that can be had in Alcantara guise too and that features a flat-bottom design.

New M Performance Power Kits for the xDrive30d models

While the visual add-ons might not be for everybody, some added performance is always welcome. Therefore, BMW decided to also unveil a couple of new M Performance Power kits for the X3 and X4 range.

The xDrive30d models that are rated at 258 HP and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque normally, can be taken up to 281 HP and 600 Nm (442 lb-ft) thanks to the new M PPK kits. That’s an improvement of 23 HP and 40 Nm over the stock models.

That translates into a better sprint time, of course, the cars being faster to 100 km/h (62 mph) by 0.3 seconds, the X3 being rated at 5.6 seconds while the X4 is 0.1 seconds faster. Prices haven’t been released yet but expect them to be unveiled at Essen.
