When I Grow Up: 695 Tributo Ferrari and 430 Scuderia

Somehow, we never got to see the little Fiat 500 Abarth Tributo Ferrari side by side with the real thing, but here it is sitting beside a track day legend from a couple of years ago, the Ferrari 430 Scuderia.
The video provided by Youtube user RacingEngineV8 shows just how close Fiat’s go-fast division came to matching every detail on the 500 to those on the bigger Italian supercar cousin. In fact, if your girlfriend that doesn’t know about cars sees these two, she’ll likely pick the cuter 500.

Unfortunately for her, this would be a bad choice, because the Fiat only has a 1.4-liter Turbo T-Jet 16V engine, especially tweaked to provide a maximum power of 180 hp. Other features include Fiat's MTA (Manual Transmission Automated) electromechanical gearbox with race-inspired paddle gearshift, optimized to reduce gearshift times, and a set of 17-inch alloy wheels, with the design inspired by Ferrari wheels.

On the other hand, the real Ferrari here has a 4.3-liter V8 engine that’s capable of producing 510 horsepower at a screaming 8,500 rpm. It’s about twice as fast to 100 km/h (62 mph) and has room in the back for... nothing. No wonder the little Fiat wants to look like a Ferrari.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
