The Japanese automaker just nailed one of the most incredible models of 2023 in a worldwide presentation that made the rounds around planet Earth, from Japan to Australia and from Europe to North America. And, yes, we truly believe the 2024 Land Cruiser will prove a significant hit – perhaps even greater than the widely-acclaimed 2024 Lexus GX 550.
It is dubbed the Land Cruiser 250 in Japan to ensure no one confounds it for the J300 Land Cruiser the company released during the summer of 2021. In Australia and some places around Europe, it will be dubbed Land Cruiser Prado – in keeping with tradition. Meanwhile, North America only needs the iconic name – Land Cruiser – to stand out in any crowd.

Based on the same TNGA-F body-on-frame platform as many of its peers (Tundra, Sequoia, Lexus LX, N400 Tacoma, etc.), it will act as the more affordable counterpart of the newly introduced Lexus GX 550. And to make sure these two don't clash, the 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 from the luxury SUV was substituted for Tacoma's 326-hp i-Force Max 2.4-liter turbo inline-four mill.

That is not a bad deal – from 349 down to 326 hp, frankly, given the mid-$50k pricing point touted for the model's base trim, called Land Cruiser 1958. Interestingly, Toyota paid homage to more than one classic series – so you can either have a round or squared LED headlight style when selecting the trim of choice. That's personalization from the very beginning, right? So, how about customization?

Suppose you don't go for one of just 5,000 First Edition units set to become available for North America. In that case, you will probably need to defer to the wonderful realm of the aftermarket sector to make the 2024 Land Cruiser your own. Oh, wait, the off-road-focused SUV is only coming sometime next spring, right? So, it's a waiting game until then – where you could play a game of spot the differences compared to the Lexus GX – like the front and rear styling, the physical buttons for the climate control inside, and more.

Or, if you would like, maybe the imaginative realm of digital car content creators could help you sway toward a street-savvy 2024 Land Cruiser Build instead of the traditional off-road expert look. We have both, thanks to a couple of virtual artists. First, the pixel master, better known as ildar_project on social media, who usually plays with tuned models, helps the big SUV grow an additional off-road pair with a suspension lift, bead-lock-capable aftermarket wheels, and humongous all-terrain tires to bode well for the body's new green hue.

Secondly, Nikita Chuicko, the virtual artist better known as kelsonik on social media, thinks now is the right CGI time to fiddle with the newly introduced 2024 Land Cruiser and give it a mall-crawler appearance with new colors, a significantly lowered suspension, 24-inch Vossen HF6-4 aftermarket wheels, and also some additional blacked-out elements. So, which one is your favorite?
