Bad news is plaguing Lucid. The carmaker's Air sedan has been recalled for three different reasons, with all the recalls being issued on the same day.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA) issued no fewer than three recalls for the Lucid Air. Over 6,200 vehicles are affected and must be fixed during the procedure. Lucid has already kicked off the procedures.
The most stringent of them all seems to be the fact that the software may not display warning for loss of power, due to a glitch of the electrical system. 778 cars built between October 22, 2021, and June 29, 2023, are targeted by the recall.
NHTSA explains that software versions 2.0.64 and older may not respond properly to an inverter power module failure, which can result in a loaf of power without warning, the recall claims.
This can be sorted out easily with an over-the-air (OTA) software update, free of charge for the owners of the cars. Yet, they need to be notified before September 25, 2023.

The second recall refers to the rearview camera image not being displayed when the driver engages reverse, thus reducing visibility and increasing the risk of injury or crash and thus not complying with the Federal Motto Vehicles Safety Standard number 111. The procedure focuses on 59 vehicles built between November 24, 2021, and January 29, 2023.
The issue will also be fixed with the help of an over-the-air software update, free of charge, with owners getting notified via email before September 25, 2023.
The third recall also involves a visibility issue, as windshield wipers may fail to operate, due to the wiper arm nuts, which may loosen, thus increasing the risk of a crash. There are potentially 5,523 cars affected, all built between October 22, 2021, and June 13, 2023.
Owners will get notification letters mailed before September 25, and will have to contact the Lucid Service Centers. Specialists will inspect, tighten the wiper arm nuts, and replace damaged parts as necessary, with no expense for the owners.
Lucid has already fixed the wiper arm nuts on 2,431 vehicles to date and will fix the remaining 5,523.
The carmaker has three more recalls active at the moment and is working to fix them. Hopefully they are not going the "deliver now, fix later" way that Tesla has been following for years.

Lucid Air, in the Pure version, sports a dual-motor setup and all-wheel drive and starts at $82,400. It's got 480 horsepower (487 PS) and 443 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque, which secure an acceleration from 0 to 60 mph (0-97 kph) in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 124 mph (200 kph). The 88-kWh battery pack provides it with a 410-mile (600-kilometer) range.
This upcoming September, the carmaker will also roll out the single-motor rear-wheel drive version, which will be more affordable, being expected to start below $80,000.
At the opposite end of the lineup is the Lucid Air Sapphire. The top-of-the-range version is powered by three electric motors in an all-wheel drive layout, which bring along 1,234 horsepower (1,251 PS) and 1,430 lb-ft (1,939 Nm) of torque for a run from 0 to 60 mph (0-97 kph) in just 1.89 seconds and a top speed of 205 mph (330 kph). That is hypercar territory. This version can drive up to 427 miles (687 kilometers) before it needs to be plugged in again, thanks to a 118-kWh battery pack.
