Over a year ago, we wrote a short story revealing that the dash of a MINI Paceman looks just like the outline of Mickey Mouse's face. The designers couldn't have done this by accident – it's just too obvious. Maybe they watched too many cartoons or had a Deadmou5 CD on their desk when they penned the interior.
When we stepped into the new MINI hatch earlier this year, we noticed Mickey wasn't on the dash any more, which kind of made us sad. However, upon spending a few more days with the car, we discovered that he had been moved to the central tunnel, where the surround of the gearshift and the cup holders now defined him.
Mercedes does it too, just that it's in the back of the car. Maybe they did it by accident or maybe the dreamy designers who watch cartoons all day were assigned to the rear section of the cabin. Regardless of the reason, the climate control system in the back of the W205 C-Class looks like Felix the Cat, while the one one on the S-Class has that Cookie Monster "durp" look.
It's not just the interiors though. When Mazda wanted to preview the design of its new supermini with the Hazumi concept, they accidentally released a car that looks just like the red bird from the Angry Birds game.
