Waze Bug on iPhone Should Actually Become a Feature

Waze continues to be one of the top navigation apps out there on both Android and iOS, and while some run it on their car’s screen using Android Auto or CarPlay, others just stick with their phones for a more straightforward approach.
Some of those running Waze on their iPhone have recently spotted what they thought was a cool new update, as the navigation bar at the top, the one where you are provided with navigation instructions, was suddenly much smaller than before.

Without a doubt, this is a useful change because the available screen estate is increased so you get to see more of the map on the screen. While some think this isn’t a handy approach because it’s harder to see the navigation instructions, something that’s really not recommended when driving given the distraction that could happen, others enjoy the change because it makes it easier to notice the other reports on the map.

As it turns out, this isn’t a change that Waze has introduced on purpose, but a bug that only some of those running the app on their iPhones are seeing.

I also came across this bug-that-should-be-a-feature on Waze on my iPhone recently, and just like others, I thought it was a change that the Google-owned company included in the latest version. After closing and relaunching Waze, the navigation bar returned to normal so I’m guessing this is pretty much the easiest way to get rid of the bug.

In the meantime, the latest Waze version for iPhone is said to cause major problems on CarPlay, as many are now reporting they’re unable to adjust the volume in their cars when the app is running. The Waze team has already acknowledged this weird behavior and a fix is in the works, but an ETA as to when it could land isn’t yet available.
