As BMW is definitely pushing the luxury etiquette for the F15 X5, with the new Individual program and new accessories, perfectly tailored for the new model, the car is still an SUV.
Even though most users will never take out on a field or go full on 'Off Road' with it, it's still nice to know that the X5 is a perfectly capable car outside perfectly smooth asphalt and surfaces.
With this in mind, BMW released a couple of videos, shot in the outskirts of Vancouver, showcasing their new models' aptitudes outside normal scenery. The xDrive50i and xDrive30d models were used for these clips.
The xDrive50i is powered by a 4.4-liter V8 engine that was upgraded and is now making 450 HP and 650 Nm (480 lb-ft) of torque. The transmission is supplied by ZF with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and the intelligent all-wheel-drive system, xDrive, just as the name says.
On the diesel side, the xDrive30d has the same transmission and drivetrain but with a 3-liter inline 6-cylinder configuration. The oil-burner makes 258 HP and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque and is EU-6 compliant.
