The new model in the Sports Activity Vehicle adventure of BMW, the F15, is finally here and finally, we can take it for a spin. When they heard about a test drive, the guys from Autocar jumped at the chance.
The car they had for the test was a xDrive30d model, fitted with a 3-liter 6-cylinder diesel engine that makes 258 HP and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque, an engine that was criticized on the previous model for its rough sound and feel.

Well, the same engine is quieter and more docile than before, the 2.5dB saving in noise felt inside the car being quite noticeable. Compared to the E70 model, the F15 xDrive30d is faster to 62 mph by 0.7 seconds but still manages to release 33 less grams of CO2 into the environment.

The suspension swallows small bumps easier than before, providing a smoother ride and turning this potent off-roader into a veritable comfortable car, that could go against the 7 Series at any time.

There are still some issues with the steering but to help out in this regard, the SUV has various modes to choose from, from Eco Pro to Sport, depending on how you like it.

Actually, from their review, this seems to be the only downside of the car, the steering and most users won't be using this car on a race track but in the city, so this should prove to be a small bump in the F15 X5's rise to greatness.
