Pikes Peak guru Nabuhiro “Monster” Tajima is set to return at the famous Colorado event in a gas-powered vehicle, after last year’s electric car attempt left him... let’s say broken hearted.
Seeing his record improved by no less than five seconds by Rhys MIllen’s fantastic run in a Hyundai Genesis Coupe-based racer, the veteran Japanese driver will rely on an altered Toyota GT 86 to try and claim his laurels back.

Did we say altered Toyota? Well, it’s actually a 670 HP contraption that’s wearing a Toyota badge, but so are the other Unlimited Class vehicles that will race to the clouds. When compared to the Peugeot 208 T16 or Rhys Millen’s Hyundai, Tajima’s racer doesn’t seem too much of a threat, but we suspect that the Japanese driver has something up his sleeve.

Until we manage to get our hands on further details, scroll down below to see the big-winged Toyota Super 86 in action. And in case you missed it, we also wrote about Millen's 900 HP torpedo today.
