Now that the entire length of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb circuit is neatly paved, things are on the move for new records. The record holder for electric motorcycles, Chip Yates, announced he will defend his title in this year's race.
With the electric bikes becoming ever more popular and teams such as Zero Motorcycles and Amarok announcing they will have their shot at glory in this year's PPIHC race, Yates thought twice and decided to defend his 12m50s094 time.

Yates will be riding a Lightning bike which has been engineered with power in mind, whereas Amarok's machine seeks the lightest machine with enough power for race conditions and is highly maneuverable.

With six-time winner Greg Tracy aboard the Amarok, his extensive experience at Pikes Peak, and the entire circuit paved, things are definitely going to be interesting, to say the least.
