You can get a sense of the scale of the Frankfurt Motor Show just by having a look at Mercedes-Benz's stand: around 100 vehicles will be on display there, probably making it one of - if not the - largest.
Bear in mind Stuttgart is only 200 kilometers away from Frankfurt, so if anything, a strong Mercedes-Benz presence makes sense at least as far as logistics costs go. Obviously, it's not just that: the German manufacturer also has plenty new models to show off, one of which is the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet.

Calling the open-top S-Class new isn't exactly accurate since we are talking about a mere mid-cycle refresh, which would explain the very revealing nature of the teaser released today. However, there's another reason to that: the most important changes can't be seen with the engine hood in place.

The visual novelties can go unnoticed by all but the keenest of eye or Mercedes-Benz hardcore fans. The front end receives a mild revision with the new headlight design set to dominate the proceedings, a feat repeated at the rear as well where the S-Class Cabriolet gets modified taillights.

Other than that, expect the luxury droptop to continue to be the same pampering machine for everyone inside, as long as they sit in the two front seats. The other ones in the rear remain strictly for decorative purposes and those odd occasions when you absolutely have to give more than one person a lift.

The idea of such a large car with only two usable seats may seem like the epitome of luxury, but there's also a Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Cabriolet version to consider. However, not even that will have what it takes to be the star of the show for Mercedes in Frankfurt because the Stuttgart-based manufacturer will use this venue to introduce the Mercedes-AMG Project ONE hypercar as well. Good luck to any model competing for the spotlight with the company's much-awaited first foray into the world of super-fast mid-engined no-nonsense vehicles.
