People sometimes make mistakes. Some hit the curb while parking, others are not even aware of the fact that you have to step off the brakes as you hit a pothole. And yet our cars cope with this, at least in most situations. Ever wondered how automakers prepare for such situations that should never happen but always do?
The clip below provides a good answer for the aforementioned question. Sure, this isn’t the freshest piece of footage, as it shows model from 10 to 15 years ago undergoing durability testing. Things have moved on meanwhile, while robots now playing a more important role in testing cars. For autonomous driving’s sake, Audi brought an a TT that drove itself up Pikes Peak back in 2010!

The human component still plays an important role in such tests though and this is exactly what we like about the footage. It’s not everyday that you see people acting like this.

However, the actions in the clip can be split in two main categories, if you ask us. The first is the painful one, which includes scenes such as the VW Beetle hitting a barrier with its rims while on full lock. Ouch!

The second one can easily be labeled as amusing and includes scenes raging from people slamming the doors to a T4 Transporter (it’s actually a Caravelle, the people moving version) getting some serious air time - you could probably fit another T4 under the jumping van and they would’ touch.
