In real life, the General Dynamics F-111 was a plane that even the U.S. Air Force seemed to forget it operated at times. Heck, even its "Aardvark" nickname was only christened right as the plane was due to be retired in 1996. Twenty-seven years later, the Aardvark is gearing up for another stint in the limelight thanks to Gaijin Entertainment's 'Kings of Battle' update to their smash-hit vehicle combat game War Thunder.
Through an awesome-looking teaser trailer uploaded to YouTube on October 19th, we find that Gaijin's ostensible change of attitude towards its recently embattled player base is about to lead to even more top-shelf aircraft and armored vehicles we've come to love from War Thunder. With the swing-wing F-111 being the flagship vehicle of this latest update, War Thunder inches ever closer to reaching parity with 21st-century military aviation. But the Aardvark is far from the only edition announced for the 'Kings of Battle' update so far.

On the ground vehicle side of things, the American M109 mobile howitzer is set to debut in the game for both the U.S. and the Israeli tech trees. With a 185 mm main gun on hand, the M109 should make easy work of enemy tanks at its battle rating. All the while, the Chinese tech tree will receive the Type 83 SPH self-propelled howitzer vehicle to counterbalance a robust and deadly Western adversary. Through Gaijin's cinematic trailer for their new update, welcome additions like the French AMX-10 infantry fighting vehicle and the American T54E2 heavy tank should make for some awesome high battle-ranking realistic battles at some point in the very distant future.

One thing's for sure, Gaijin knows how to showcase their newly-rendered war vehicles in as exciting and impactful a fashion as possible in their update promotions. This time around, they've done as phenomenal a job as they ever have. If you ask us, that's a good thing. Considering how much change that War Thunder's changed since its Steam page was bombarded with overwhelmingly negative reviews this past spring, sighting a perception that Gaijin was unwilling to make alterations to the game based upon considerable user feedback.

But with pending changes to the in-game economy and a de-emphasis on endless grinding now at the forefront of Gaijin's alterations to War Thunder, it seems five months and change was more than enough time to reverse course just in time for the latest update. For one of the longest-running multiplayer vehicle combat games of all time, it's a sign that a year's worth of pent-up frustration among War Thunder's player base wasn't enough to define the game's future going forward. With so many cool vehicles in the pipeline and a more user-friendly game experience, the future is bright for War Thunder, after all.
