VW Sells Great in 2010

The year isn't quite over when it comes to sale days, but this doesn't mean there are some who haven't already begun celebrating; especially the brands of the Volkswagen group, the ones that have managed in the 11 months that have passed since the beginning of the year to outsell the entire 2009.

Audi announced such a feat yesterday, and now it's time for the mother company, Volkswagen, to do the same. With the 6.59 million units sold in 11 months, VW managed to surpass last year's sales figure by 12.7 percent.

“The Volkswagen Group is benefiting disproportionately from the upturn on most major automobile markets. We anticipate a new delivery record of more than seven million vehicles for the full year,”
said Christian Klingler, Volkswagen member of the board for sales.

Each of the group's divisions made their contribution to the sales figure registered so far. Audi already announced its figures yesterday, posting a 15.3 percent increase in sales. The main VW asset, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, managed to sell the bulk of the volume, or 4.18 million units.

The two less important brands when it comes to volume, Skoda and Seat, managed to sell each 702,400 and 313,000 units, respectively. For both brands, the numbers represent an increase from last year.

The results so far this year are encouraging for a group that already stated its goal of becoming the number one manufacturer in the world by 2018, overtaking Toyota. So far, VW's plan seems to be working, even if Toyota, despite the major recalls conducted this year, doesn't look at all worried.
