Volkswagen Passat CC, which we agree looks quite appealing, last night received the "red dot Design Award 2009 - Best of the Best". This is the second award in a row as the four-door coupe recently won the "Australian International Design Award".
And since we're talking about the awards received by the Passat CC, the car gained the "iF Product Design Award 2009" in Hanover in March while at the end of May it snatched the "Australian International Design Award" in the "Automotive and Transport" category.
"Last night the Aalto Theater in Essen provided the setting for a wonderful prize ceremony during which Martin Kropp, designer at Exterior Design Studio 1, accepted the "red dot Design Award" for Volkswagen. The "red dot Design Award" is one of today's most coveted awards that a designer can win for a creative product. The prize has been awarded every year since 2000," Volkswagen said in a release.
Volkswagen Passat CC, often referred to as the 4-door coupe version of the classic Passat, was revealed at the 2008 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The car is offered with a 1.8-liter TFSI inline-four (118 kW - 160 PS or 158 hp) or a 2.0-liter inline-four TDI engines, both with front-wheel drive and 6-speed manual, or with a 3.6-liter VR6 engine (220 kW - 299 PS or 295 hp) with 4motion four-wheel drive and a 6-speed twin-clutch Direct-Shift Gearbox (DSG).
Also known as Volkswagen CC in the United States, the car is assembled in Emden, Germany.
