A new section has just been added to the Volkswagen UK Facebook page, and it’s not your average competition or press information-filled brochure for a new car. To celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Golf GTI, they’ve sent the Edition 35 and a couple of lads with strong accents back into the past to 1976.
Why 1976? Because that’s when the original Golf GTI was born. The boys get to check out how the car was created in the old days, be Germans with brown coats, pencils and spanners.
“Our travelers - fitted with helmet-cameras and microphones - went to thank the engineers for their efforts in creating such an iconic vehicle. Unfortunately we lost the camera-feed as our adventurers decided to take the GTI Time Machine for a spin through history,” VW UK says.
