WV Golf Edition 35 Tweaked by B&B

The nimble VW Golf GTI keeps receiving one “gift” after another. We say that because not so long time ago it has been upgraded for its 35th birthday. When the “Edition 35” was released it made the Golf GTI stand out from the crowd by a set of visual upgrades which included revised front and rear bumpers, smoky light lenses, LED daytime and taillights also new alloy wheels and a ‘35’ badge. Not to mention the technical improvements.

And as we previously mentioned, the time has come for the VW Golf GTI Edition 35 to receive yet other enhancements. This time, the tuners  B&B stepped in and launched several performance packages that are available for the model.

The tuning company offers three different power levels of 310PS (305hp), 326PS (321hp) and 362PS (356hp). To obtain these figures the tuning company has installed a larger turbocharger, a special sport exhaust system, and a high-performance catalyst. A re-mapping of the ECU, and a revised air intake system have also been included.

The Level 1 upgrade includes an increase in boost pressure. The result being of 310PS (approx. 305hp) and 420Nm(569 pound feet) of torque from the 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, with a total cost of EUR1,198 ($1,740). Level 2 starts at EUR2,798 ($4,064) and includes a special downpipe, optimised air induction and airflows. The boost pressure is increased to about 0,25bar, also the injection map was tuned to addapt to these new changes, resulting this way 326PS (approx. 321hp) and 450Nm(610 pound feet).

Level 3 manages to “extract” 362PS (approx. 356hp) and 510 Nm(691 pound feet) from the GTI’s engine by adding a B&B special turbo, modified air intake system and optimizing the intercooling system. But power has its price, the Level3 will set you back with about EUR8,950 ($13,000).
