VW Commercial Vehicles Celebrating Success in the UK

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles UK has had a successful start in 2010, as the company managed to receive three awards and increase its market share by 2.4 percent to 10.4 percent to the end of April, compared to the same period of last year, with almost as many vans sold in March than the whole of the first quarter last year.

The facelifted version of the T5 Transporter, which was introduced to the market in January and comes with beefier and more efficient Euro5 TDI diesel engines has won two awards, while Volkswagen’s third award was secured by its largest van model, the Crafter.

The two awards for the new Transporter are Best Medium Van in the Van Fleet World 2010 Honors, and as the Standard Panel Van category winner in the iVan Awards 2010.

A good van before and now even better after the extensive revisions.  A fine range of engines, great build quality and better to drive than before.  The latest Volkswagen Transporter has a lot going for it,” said John Kendall, Van Fleet World magazine editor, describing the Transporter.

The Van Fleet World 2010 event also saw the VW Crafter receive the Best Large Van title for the fourth year running.

We are really pleased that the new Transporter is already proving to be so highly valued by both the fleet experts judging these awards, and our customers – and for the Crafter to win Best Large Van for the fourth year running proves that it’s hard to beat." said Simon Elliott, Director, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.
