If you’re thinking Volkswagen would only make a concept for the sake of showing off, than you don’t know the German automaker. The fact that the Beetle R Concept we saw in Frankfurt back in September has turned up in Los Angeles only proves that they are gouging to ship these bad boy over to the States.
And don’t think they won’t make money on it just because demand is limited, all the cool stuff, like bigger wheels and chrome inserts, cost a pretty penny.

VW says it’s meant to show “the potential for an ever sportier version of the Beetle” and that the turbocharged 2.0-liter of the Beetle Turbo “could offer even more performance, similar to that of the Golf R and Scirocco R”.

Our favorite part of the car is not the quad-exhaust, but the bucket sport seats trimmed in Nappa-leather. Rumor has it that VW is already hard at work developing the Beetle R, which will be a FWD car like the Scirocco R and will offer 270 hp in Europe.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
