VTM SpaceSter Based on Harley Sportster

Though some of us were first tempted to think that this was just another cool looking CAD design, the adjacent images are, in fact, showing a handmade machine. Based on the Harley-Davidson Sportster, the SpaceSter comes from the French custom motorcycle shop VTM (V-Twin Mechanic), being designed by Bernard ‘Buck’ Massart.

The engine on the SpaceSter custom motorcycle is wrapped in a cover mimicking the Harley engine fins, making it look like one solid block motor.

Furthermore, the exhaust looks like it belongs to the engine, but then disappears in a custom under-frame cache where the 2 pipes join with a discreet exit on the bottom left of the bike.

What looks like an oil tank with fins matching perfectly those of the engine gives access to the battery and electricals. The front oil filter and bracket have been removed. A louvered chin ensures that the engine receives enough cooling air.

Suspension comes front a set of Yamaha R1 inverted forks. Also, there are no master cylinders on the bars, as they have been relocated inside the body. In addition to that, front brake and hydraulic clutch are actioned by small levers on the bars. The bodywork breaths aerodynamics, from the front to the rear where the frenched taillight and the license tag look like they are incorporated into the fender.

SpaceSter is poised to be one of the few signs of genuine originality at the AMD World Championships Of Bike Building next year in August at Sturgis, after it has already won “Best of Show” Free Wheels 2010 and “Best of Show” Punta Bagna Bike Valfrejus 2010 titles.
