Volvo XC60 Recalled Due to Front Electric Seat Stoppers

Now living under Chinese ownership, Volvo feels pretty much like home in China so there should be no surprise that the Swedish manufacturer focuses more on the local business. And how else could it do that if not by starting a recall on one of its most popular models?

Volvo announced, through a statement posted on the official website of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) that a total of 135 units of the XC60 range are affected by a faulty seat stopper that could raise the risk of injuries in case of an accident.

The models concerned by the recall are produced between February 4, 2009 and October 25, 2010 and come equipped with an improperly installed stopped on the front electric seats. This could move more than it is supposed to, the statement reads, which would obviously create additional risks if too much load is applied on it.

As it always happens with a recall, owners will be notified by Volvo in the upcoming weeks and will be "invited" to the nearest Volvo service center for a free inspection. If necessary, the seat stopped will be replaced at no additional costs.

Volvo XC60 was nearly two months ago the subject of a different recall in the United States. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) mentioned in a notification that a faulty driver airbag could exist on more than 9,700 vehicles sold under the Volvo badge. The recall started in late October and all potentially affected models should have been repaired.
