Volvo V60 Cross Country Coming to Los Angeles Auto Show

Better late than never, the Swedish automaker finally decided the V40 Cross Country needs a slightly bigger brother. Baptized the Volvo V60 Cross Country, the sports wagon combines soft-road capability with a rougher & tougher persona than that of the V60.

Programmed to make its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show, Volvo’s new model builds up on the success of the normal V60, which has continually been a hot seller since it’s begun production in 2010. The newest Volvo nameplate continues the successful story of improved all-road capability, a story that started with the V70 Cross Country.

Borrowing the base styling cues of the facelifted V60, the Cross Country also adds a few aesthetic bits and bobs that scream out “I’m ready to go anywhere, I’m the automotive equivalent of Dora the Explorer!” It is the type of vehicle developed to cater to those individuals who have active lifestyles, those people that often choose the dirt road over the paved one.

Boasting a ground clearance increased by 65 mm compared to the V60, joined by skid plates front and rear as well as side scuff plates and bumper extenders, the Volvo V60 Cross Country also gets rectangular exhaust exits integrated in the subtle yet sporty rear bumper apron. The Cross Country’s all-road treatment also adds high profile tires shoehorned on 18-inch or optional 19-inch wheels.

With the European order books opening in the first quarter of 2015 and deliveries slated for late June, the Volvo V60 Cross Country will be available at launch with a choice of three turbo diesel powerplants. These are the four-cylinder Drive-E D3 with front-wheel drive, a D4 FWD or a more capable five-cylinder D4 with AWD. Last but nearly not least, the V60 Cross Country also adds unique seats dressed in high qualiy black leather with distinctive brown stitching, plus two optional two-tone leather upholsteries.
