Volvo is getting ready to launch the company's first-ever minivan. The Swedish have just teased the EM90 again before its November debut.
Volvo announced the arrival of their very first minivan back in August when Qin Peiji, president of Volvo Cars China, revealed the arrival of the model during a slide presentation. The presentation revealed plans regarding six electric cars. The XC40 and C40 Recharge were two of them, accompanied by the EX90 flagship, a small crossover, most likely the recently introduced, and an electric minivan.

Volvo refers to the EM90 as a Scandinavian living room on the move. Geely-owned automaker will build the EM90 based on the Chinese Zeekr 009 MPV. The two will share the underpinnings and will come with similar if not identical specs. The Volvo MPV will be based on the Geely Stainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform.

The Chinese minivan comes with a dual-motor setup, which generates 536 horsepower (543 PS) and 505 lb-ft (685 Nm) of torque for a run from 0 to 62 mph (0-100 kph) in 4.5 seconds, which is almost supercar level, despite the large proportions of the minivan.

The Zeekr 009 is available with two battery options, so this is what the Volvo customers are also getting. The entry-level Volvo will be equipped with the 116 kWh battery pack, which provides 436 miles (700 kilometers) of range, according to the CLTP driving cycle. The top-of-the-line version will get the 140 kWh lithium-nickel-manganese-cobalt battery pack, which can drive as far as 510 miles (822 kilometers) before it needs to be plugged in again.

From what the teaser images show, the EM90 will also get a boxy design with angular lines like the Chinese Zeekr 009. Silver and black finish wheels, an upright roof, and a sharkfin, plus an upward front end with an illuminated Volvo badge, show up in the photos.

One of the photos uploaded by Volvo on Facebook reveals the design of the taillights, which sport a T-shape layout, with a long vertical strip going up the pillars, split in two by two horizontal strips, placed below the rear window.

It remains to be seen if the intelligent grille and the Zeekr 009's Fountain of Life interactive front end, which include 154 LED lights, will make it to the Swedish model as well.

There will be captain chairs in the second row with massage functions, while occupants will benefit from the presence of five screens. A 15.4-inch touchscreen will find room in the dashboard, relevant driving information will show up on the 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, while a folding 15.6-inch screen will be mounted in the headliner.

The Volvo EM90 will debut on November 12. Pre-orders are set to begin the same day for the Chinese market.
