Volvo is considering building cars in the US in order to get over the issues caused by the fluctuation of the American dollar, with the company also planning to expand its presence on the American market, as Automotive News (sub. req.) writes.
The move is part of an ambitious business plan, which should see the company thrive under its new Chinese owner, Geely. The carmaker wants to double its annual sales, having set itself an annual target of 800,000 units. The company will invent $11 billion in development over the next five years, with one of the most important areas being China, the world’s largest auto market.

The US Volvo plant would sit alongside the automotive producer’s facilities in Sweden, Belgium and China.

We’ll remind you that Volvo has used the Frankfurt Auto Show to introduce its new vision of platforms and more efficient engines for its future vehicles.
