Volvo Car’s CEO Stefan Jacoby will be on sick leave for about a month now, after he suffered a mild stroke, the company reported today.
"I was lucky that it was a mild stroke," says Stefan Jacoby. "I am currently experiencing limited movement abilities in my right arm and, to some extent, also in my right leg. I have started to recuperate and already notice certain improvements.”
“Now I will focus on resting and exercising, in order to get back to work as soon as possible. I am however in ongoing contact with the Volvo Car Corporation Executive Management team and the Board of Directors,” Jacoby adds.
The CEO was placed under medical care and is starting the recovery process. While he is building his strength, Jan Gurander, CFO at Volvo Car Corporation, will serve as acting CEO.
Jacoby has been CEO since August 2010 and has made it his goal to double the company’s sales to 800,000 vehicles by 2020.
