Back in March, we were showing you a big batch of pictures with Mercedes’ new 6x6 G63 AMG. Since then, the vehicle has been put into production and even on sale. We know six-wheeled vehicles are quite rare among automakers, but it seems that Mercedes-Benz isn’t the only company that developed one.
Swedish manufacturer Volvo made one as well, but unlike the Germans, their six-wheeled XC60 crossover pickup is not a production model. The unique vehicle was built as an in-house camera car and added to the fleet just a few weeks ago.
Painted matte black, in order to suit outdoor professional filming, the altered Volvo XC60 gained an extended bed and a non-slip deck behind the cabin that can host a lot of camera equipment. Interior updates include two seven-inch monitors mounted in the front headrests for live feed.
While it’s not as menacing as the Mercedes-Benz 6x6 G63 AMG, we have a feeling that this six-wheeled Volvo XC60 could be quite successful in the Middle-East.
