This week marked the market entrance for Volkswagen's new Touran, a model which has already secured 12,700 orders to its name. To be sold starting at EUR21,750, the people mover is available with a wide range of engine choices, as well as with several appealing trims.
The new Touran line comes equipped with TDI and TSI engines, turbocharged and featuring direct-injection. The petrol engine range comprises the new 1.2l TSI (105 PS), as well as two versions of the 1.4l TSI (140 PS or 170 PS). The units are being offered with a seven-speed Direct Shift Gearbox.
Diesels comprise the 1.6l units (90 PS and 105 PS) and 2.0l units developing either 140 or 170 PS. The powerplants can be paired with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DSG.
The Touran provides 695 liters of luggage space (for the five seat configuration) and a maximum payload of up to 660 kg. The model comes equipped with Dynamic Light Assist, Park Assist 2.0., bi-xenon headlights and electric panoramic sliding sunroof.
“As a family car, the Touran combines pure driving fun with flexibility and is becoming an indisputable companion as a result in everyday life. The Touran is also the leading model in terms of security and comfort,” Volkswagen says about the MPV.
The Touran will soon be joined in the lineup by its taller brother, the CrossTouran. The order books for the model are already open, with prices starting from EUR27,700. The CrossTouran offers the same engine choices as the Touran, but a more dynamic body, complete with longer suspension springs which give it 20 millimeters more ground clearance.
