Volkswagen has had a slow start to 2012 in January, but sales have kicked up a gear in February, when the passenger car brand delivered 17.7 percent more cars than a year before - 339,500 units. Cumulating the results with January’s figures show an 8 percent growth so far this year.
Strong growth came from the Asia / Pacific region, where in the two-moth period they delivered over 333,200 vehicles to customers. Sales ere down overall in Europe, but VW recorded a substantial increase in deliveries (63.5%) in Central and Eastern Europe region to 35,800, as Russia more than double.

“Despite difficult conditions on some markets around the world, the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand continued its excellent development in the first two months of this year. We were able to maintain our brisk pace thanks to our strong, young product range,” Christian Klingler, Board Member for Sales and Marketing for the Volkswagen Group and the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand, commented on Tuesday on the occasion of the Geneva Motor Show.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
