Special editions are the bread and butter of the small car industry nowadays and Volkswagen knows this. The German automaker's Japanese sales division has thus decided a slightly enhanced version of the Up! city car launched last year is in order.
Built to emphasize the lightness of the car, both in weight and spirit, the Orange Up! is going on sale from JPY 1.89 million with 1000 examples being available across three different colors. 650 models will have a hot orange metallic coat of paint, another 200 will get deep black pearl and the last 150 offer reflex silver metallic.

So, what about the interior, is there anything special about that? As it turns out, there is. A dedicated dash pad has been created in orange across the 1000 model lineup. The steering wheel and hand brake come with orange stitching (yes, for the leather), while the fabric seats have orange piping with a combination of grays.

Other goodies include black door mirrors for contrast, Up! door spills and 16-inch alloy wheels with 185/50 R16 tires.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
