Volkswagen’s UK division today announced that Simon Elliott, who currently holds the Director of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles position, will become Managing Director of Volkswagen Group Ireland, with the executive set to fill in his new position in August this year.
“This is a great opportunity for Simon and I have every confidence he will take his energy, drive and humour to Ireland and make a superb impact, in the same way he has done here,” said Robin Woolcock, Managing Director of Volkswagen Group UK.
"It is obviously disappointing to lose Simon from Commercial Vehicles where he has made a significant difference to the success of the brand over the past three years. I would like to wish Simon success and happiness in his new role, and for his family, as they settle into their new lives in Ireland.”
Elliott will replace Paul Willis, who is set to receive a senior role withing the Volkswagen Group in China, supporting the company’s ambitions development plan for the country. The executive’s current position will be temporally occupied by Robin Woolcock. The latter will be responsible for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles in the UK until a new Director is appointed.
“I have really enjoyed the last three years with Commercial Vehicles and am really proud to have achieved record volumes and market share, grown brand awareness and leadership in customer care, and forged a fantastic relationship with everyone in our Van Centre Network,” Elliott said. “I am very flattered to be offered this position, and looking forward to taking on my new role.”
