German automaker Volkswagen has donated 190 Passat models built in 2012 to fire squads around the United States for rescue training.
The donating process started back in 2012 and the latest to receive three examples of Volkswagen Passats built last year was the Sterling Volunteer Rescue Squad in Virginia. The donation program aims to help fire companies and rescue squads around the US practice on current-generation vehicles instead of old and outdated cars.
"Volkswagen of America is pleased to be able to donate these vehicles to fire and rescue officials across the country," said Hardy Brennecke, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Volkswagen Group of America. "It is our hope that these donations will establish innovative techniques for fire and rescue officials whoare on the front lines and responsible for saving lives every day," he added.
