Visteon Previews Topics for 2010 SAE World Congress

The 2010 SAE World Congress kicking off today will see a number of sessions held by various automotive-related companies that will be concentrating on the Ecollaboration theme (Engage, Exchange, Excel). Automotive supplier Visteon will also be attending the event, discussing advancements in vehicle climate systems, electronics, lighting and interiors.

Four Visteon experts will present technical papers, and one will co-chair a technical session during the congress. Visteon will also be showcasing its climate and electronics content on the 2011 Ford Fiesta.

The company will also present a newly designed "tri-functional" lighting system that provides an optimal balance between lighting performance and demands for reduced power consumption in today's vehicles.

The new Light-Emitting Diode (LED) headlamp system contributes to reduced weight, more efficient packaging and lower power consumption − leading to reduced CO2 emissions − while delivering required lighting performance. The system features daytime running lights (DRL), which have been mandated for new vehicles in Europe starting in 2011.

Other issues to be presented by Visteon technical experts include:
  • A method to correlate vehicle air conditioning system oil-in-circulation, by Yinhua Zheng, refrigeration systems technical professional; Mark Brown, senior manager; and Harry Youmans, system integration manager
  • A standardization proposal for automotive-grade audio/visual remote control profile (AVRCP) with respect to in-car use of Bluetooth (wireless technology) devices, co-authored by Michael Gabel, Visteon technical professional
  • A study of compressor durability for HFO-1234yf refrigerant systems for vehicle air conditioning systems, by Rance Stehouwer, climate product design engineer
