It seems that Hyundai is not the only manufacturer facing strikes and riots. The Maruti-Suzuki factory in Manesar, India, was the stage for massive riots, which left 1 dead an 85 injured. Also, more than 90 of the factory’s workers were arrested.
The riot came after the workers accused management of anti-worker and anti-union plans, which reportedly cost Maruti around $500- (€407-) million, last year. The workers main targets were the figures in the company’s higher management, with a reported 7 of them ending up in hospital. They even lit the factory on fire, however, it was extinguished in time, by the local fire brigade.

Now, the 90 workers which were arrested will be facing charges of murder, attempted murder and arson. Another downside to the whole affair is the fact that the factory has been shut down, meaning it is losing money fast. This is also reflected in its shares which fell by 8.2% immediately after the incident.
