Success sometimes brings extra problems, at least this is what the latest news arriving from the Polaris/Victory/Brammo headquarters seems to confirm. Victory announced that one of the electric race bikes that made a historic debut in road racing at the Isle of Man this year was stolen from the Brammo headquarters.
The bike that was stolen has VIN 0004 and is the third bike in Victory's electric roster. Even more, this is the very bike Lee Johnston rode to a podium in the Zero TT race at the Snaefell Mountain, making it an even more prized two-wheeler.

An investigation is in progress as the Police Department in Talen, Oregon is determining how the bike was stolen and its potential whereabouts. Victory is already offering a $1,000 (€) reward for providing information that leads to the recovery of this motorcycle.

Why steal a bike that's impossible to register or ride in public?

Mystery surrounds the theft of this electric Victory motorcycle. No further details have been offered at the time of writing, and all we know is that the bike was on display at the Brammo headquarters in Talent, OR. It has Johnston's racing number 3 on it and all the sponsor and parts decals as can be seen in the photo above.

Why would anyone steal a bike that can't be registered for public use remains a mystery. Likewise, its particular looks would reveal the origin of the bike to anyone with a little bit of knowledge about the electric bike racing world. Painting the bodywork could be a temporary misleading option, but this can't go on forever.

Rumors have it that the bike was stolen as part of an industrial espionage move from rival companies or that a rich collector "ordered" the heist for his/her private collection. Others say this was a vengeful act from an unhappy Brammo employee who decided to pull an inside job to express his/her disapproval with the company's actual direction.

Hopefully, the police will have things sorted out eventually. Anyone who has valuable information can get in touch with officer Bill May at the Talent, Oregon Police Department (541-535-1253), and mention Case #15-2149.
