Vettel Not Cool, Says Sponsor

Sebastian Vettel might be the reigning world champion of Formula 1 racing, but he's not as cool as, say... Kamui Kobayashi. And before you Vettel fans get all angry at us for saying it, that's actually not the opinion of autoevolution – although we must admit it's not far from it either – but of new Sauber sponsor Mad Croc.

In a recent interview with the Turun Sanomat in Finland, the head of the aforementioned energy drink company, Ari Koivula, revealed the reasons behind his decision to become a sponsor of the Hinwil based team.

I can say that Kimi Raikkonen's image today is still really cool among young people, while the much younger Sebastian Vettel's is not,” he said, according to the aforementioned source.

Dynamic, contemporary young people don't have Vettel's hair style and body language, which gives the impression of a mama's boy. What he lacks is a certain aggressiveness,” he added.

Well, his comments could be interpreted in a sense that Vettel has been championed throughout his career by Red Bull, a rival for Mad Croc on the energy drink market. We don't know about marketing, but as far as Bernie Ecclestone is concerned, the German is a “godsend for Formula One,” as it's no secret that Vettel is one of his most favorite drivers in the Great Circus.

Moving on in the “cool driver” standings, Koivula argued that Fernando Alonso would easily top that unofficial classification from the current F1 entry list, while followed by Sauber's Kobayashi. No mention of Lewis Hamilton though, who has recently been voted the coolest driver in the 2010 F1 in a recent British survey.
