Lewis Hamilton Voted the Coolest F1 Driver of 2010

As soon as the Formula One season ended this year, several polls have been conducted within the sport's fan base aimed at revealing some interesting, fun aspects of the recently ended campaign. And we're not talking about the best racer or the best team awards here, but the coolest F1 driver, greatest overtaking of 2010 or best driver to have a beer with distinctions, all of which have found their answer last weekend.

The complex poll was conducted by Hilton Racing, best known within the Great Circus for the hospitality it provides at the Formula 1 events throughout the year, and its results were reported by crash.net.

Needless to say, we're going to start with the “Coolest Driver in F1” classification, which was topped in 2010 by McLaren's Lewis Hamilton, ahead of teammate Jenson Button and reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel. From a first glance, we can assume that the survey was likely conducted within British fans of the sport, although we're probably wrong.

Nico Hulkenberg was voted off Rookie of the Year, ahead of BMW Sauber's Kamui Kobayashi (who actually won the award during the FIA gala earlier this month) and Renault's Vitaly Petrov, while Hamilton topped one more top, the one regarding the Overtaker of the Year. Curiously enough, Kobayashi only took 2nd place here, although the public opinion is that he managed the most spectacular overtaking maneuvers in 2010. Third place here belonged to Mark Webber.

The driver most of you would like to hang out with for a beer or two is obviously Jenson Button, one of the friendliest guys in the paddock, while the best dressed F1 racer of 2010 was again Hamilton. Another chapter where Ham ruled – although he wasn't exactly the one to emerge on top – was the “WAG of the Year” contest, a distinction won by his girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger. The well-known pop star overtook Button's Jessica Michibata along the way, with Raquel del Rosario (Fernando Alonso's wife) emerging in 3rd place.

The best race of the year was chosen the season finale at Abu Dhabi, which topped the Belgium and Great Britain, while the place where most F1 fans are likely to see a new F1 race is believed to be London (another hint that British respondents formed the majority of the survey voters), ahead of New York and Paris.
