Vettel Doesn't Fancy Moves to Ferrari, McLaren

Many times in the last couple of years, newly-crowned Formula One champion Sebastian Vettel was linked with moves to historical teams such as Ferrari and McLaren Mercedes. Even though they were only rumors, most F1 fans wondered how much time will pass until Vettel finally makes his next step to race for one of these teams.

Apparently, they're in for quite a wait, as Vettel has no plans to leave Red Bull Racing any time soon. Now that he has secured his first world title in career, the German racer plans to stick around and defend his crown, and only afterwards think of joining F1's big names.

Not only that, but in a recent column for Germany's Bild, Vettel admitted that he is not at all tempted to drive for legendary teams in F1, despite some pieces of advice given to him by 7-time world champion Michael Schumacher.

He [Schumacher] told me that special moments can be experienced driving for Ferrari, or for Mercedes. (...) Every driver secretly dreams of Ferrari or Mercedes. However, whether you go there someday depends on many factors. And everything has to fit together – the myth is not enough,” wrote Vettel.

Talking to Spain's El Pais newspaper back in May, Vettel said that “Ferrari is unlike any other team, it’s a legend. There are other brands that achieve great success, but Ferrari is special.” We don't know what made him change his mind along the way – we're guessing a world title – but Red Bull will better provide him with a championship winning car next year also, or else we bet he'll switch back to more desirable feelings towards the Great Circus' greats.
