Produced for the 1966 model year, the open-top pony car that caught my eye on this occasion reportedly spent most of its life in Florida before the previous owner brought it to New England. Acquired by the current owner in 2012, chassis number 6T08C218532 shows little in the way of undercarriage corrosion.
There are, however, rough spots that need to be repaired as soon as possible. The torque boxes, for example, are damaged by rust. As for the C4 automatic transmission, the good ol’ three-speeder clunks upon initial transfer into second gear. Rust bubbling in the lower part of the body panels and the worn power-operated soft top need a little tender loving care too.

All in all, the 1966 Mustang was meticulously maintained throughout its life. Servicing performed during current ownership includes a replacement water pump, alternator, timing chain, shocks, and springs; the floors were replaced during previous ownership. Finished in Ivy Green Metallic and equipped with Pioneer speakers for the aftermarket radio, the comfy cruiser is listed on Bring a Trailer with the period-correct owner’s manual.

Currently showing in the ballpark of 44,000 miles (70,811 kilometers), even though actual mileage is unknown, the car is rolling on BFGoodrich Momenta S/E whitewall tires wrapped around 14-inch steel wheels. Drum brakes on all four corners, Ivy Gold and White bucket seats, the Mustang motif embossed into the backrests, woodgrain inserts, air conditioning, and lap belts are worthy of note, too, along with 2.80:1 gears for the rear end.

The 289-cu in (4.7-liter) engine is cooled by an aluminum radiator while the Flowmaster exhaust with twin outlets helps the Windsor V8 breathe out better than the bone-stock setup. When it was equipped with the factory-supplied Autolite 2100 two-barrel carburetor, this engine used to crank out approximately 200 horsepower and 282 pound-feet (382 Nm) of torque.

At the time of writing, the highest bid on this blast from the past is $12,500.
