Valentino Rossi Says His Team Must Remain Focused

Ahead of the MotoGP race on Sunday in the United States, Rossi stated that he and his team must remain focused on winning. He reckoned this is not the time to relax even if he currently has a 50-point lead over his closest rival in the championship standings.

"As I said in Brno, it would be stupid for us to relax and consider the championship won, anything can happen and we know that Lorenzo will be very strong this weekend and determined to make up for the last two races. We must keep focused", said the Italian.

With Indianapolis celebrating its centenary organisation of GPs, Rossi doesn't want his team to become relaxed either, especially when he knows how strong of an opponent is Jorge Lorenzo on the same Yamaha bike.

"In 2008, we didn't really know what to expect [from Indy] but our bike worked very well and we were fast from the start, in the wet and the dry. Every year is a different story however so we won't know where we are until we start our work on Friday afternoon", added Rossi.

His team-mate and second in the championship standings, Jorge Lorenzo, said he feels relaxed and prepared for a good race at Indianapolis. The Spaniard reckoned his chances for this year's title are so small that he doesn't feel any pressure.

"I am feeling confident because I've felt good in the last races, riding very fast since the beginning of the weekend, despite what's happened on Sunday. I am not thinking about the championship any more but I would like to win a race again after more than three months, especially here in Indy when it's the centenary of the track", added the Spaniard who unfortunately crashed in his last two MotoGP races.
