A couple of days ago, I accidentally said something mean about Mercedes SL-Class, claiming that it was overpriced. Of course, that's totally unfounded, especially when talking about the $220,000 SL65 or its slightly cheaper $150,000 SL63 cousin. But the point was that if you just want something to drive on special occasions, the Jaguar F-Type will do the job.
Which Jaguar F-Type? It doesn't matter because all of them sound awesome. Diverging away from the SL-Class discussion, we're going to claim that the F-Type Coupe looks better than the roadster. It's also lighter and has a usable trunk.
Up next, we're going to show you a piece of X-Rated car filth where two feline sisters want to outdo each other regarding musical talent. Childish? Yes, but we haven't met a petrolhead that doesn't want to listen to the exhaust note of the F-Type.
The F-Type is not an engineers’ type of car like Nissan GT-R. It's more of a wet dream that made it into mass production. We can still remember a clip shown by Jaguar about three years ago where an engineer said he traveled all over the world to find the perfect exhaust tips. He finally found a motorcycle company in Italy willing to play ball and came back to Britain with a suitcase full of those trademark "fat" trim pieces that finish the exhaust.
Of course, the V6 doesn't stand a chance in this rev battle. But only Maserati and Porsche make 6-cylinder engines that sound as good. Okay, maybe the Lotus Exige counts too, but that's it!
The video might seem pointless and childish at first, but there is something interesting you can learn here. Jaguar has placed a limiter on the 3.0-liter engine that stops you from revving over 4,000rpm while stationary. The F-Type R doesn't have that, so the guys doing the rev battle are actually lifting their foot off the gas at 4k just to make it fair.
