Seeing how successful pretty much all the variants of the Mini have been, Fiat is hot on its trails with a whole range of 500-based offerings. The UK will get four additional variants of the 500, by the year 2014. The first to arrive will be the 500L, which is set to make its debut in February.
It will be followed in September 2013 by a seven-seater variant of the L, which is called the 500XL, and is currently at the end of its development cycle. It is expected to be longer and wider and according to autocar.co.uk, it is a “further develompent of the 500L” - it will also be “longer and wider”.
Next up will be a more rugged version of the 500L, which will be called the Trekking, and it will feature raised suspension, as well as the now-common plastic body cladding - it will arrive by the end of 2013. The final new addition to the 500 range will be the 500X crossover, which will be a direct competitor to the Mini Countryman, and it will be launched in the spring of 2014.
