The top of the range model in the Jeep Grand Cherokee range is the SRT-8, powered by a 6.4-liter Hemi V8. However, it is much too thirsty to make sense for most buyers, who end up opting for the V6 diesel, which is available in most markets where it is sold - the V6 diesel will make its US debut next year.
However, for those UK buyers who want a bit of SRT style on their diesel-powered Grand Cherokee, Jeep has launched the ‘S-Limited’ model which takes lots of styling cues from the SRT. This means it gets huge 20-inch wheels, finished in black, a total elimination of chrome trim, a satin black finish on the new mesh grille, smoked headlights and a black rear light bar.

Inside, the S-Limited gets a leather-wrapped and heated steering wheel, perforated Nappa leather seats and real carbon fiber trim - a first for Jeep. The equipment list includes air suspension, cross-path detection, adaptive cruise control, blind spot warning system, sat-nav, a powered tailgate and an impressive-sounding 825W Harman-Kardon sound system, with 19 speakers and three subwoofers.

The V6 diesel engine is left untouched and still produces 237 hp, which is sent to all four wheels via Jeep’s Quadra-Trac II all-wheel drive system. The Grand Cherokee S-Limited costs £44,595, which could almost be called good value, considering just how much is on offer.
